Under the current management Blackfriars has established itself as a quality Real Ale and Craft Beer pub of international repute. We love our beer and we only serve what we like to drink ourselves. This guiding principle has seen us win CAMRA's Glasgow Pub Of The Year twice recently. On both occasions our cellar staff were lauded for the care and attention to detail that they display. We have five real ales on tap at any one time. These are rotated every few days so if you want to keep up to date you can pop in for a sample or follow the daily updates on our Facebook page. We rotate between what we believe are among the best brewers currently around including: Brewdog, Dark Star, Sarah Hughes, Williams Brothers, Crouchvale, Kelburn, Inveralmond and Spectrum amongst others. If you are unsure where to start with real ales ask our bar staff for a recommendation or a sample. Ale drinkers have shrugged off the woolly jumpers and pipe smoking image of bygone decades. In the modern age of natural, unprocessed food and drink the high quality micro breweries we favour are leading the way forward. One of the hippest and most satisfying ways to while away an hour or two is by sampling the city's biggest selection of American Craft Beers available in Blackies. Fundamentally Craft Beer is high quality, flavour packed American ale and we stock the very best including: Flying Dog, Brooklyn, Sierra Nevada, Dog Fish Head, Tommyknocker, O'Dell, Left Hand, Anchor, Goose Island and Great Divide. Our pursuit of the tastiest and indeed most elegant ways to consume beer and ale has taken us round the world. It is inevitable then that we should arrive back in Europe with our fine array of Belgian Ales and German Wheat Beers. Travelling the globe without leaving the comfort of your bar stool. |
