Welcome to Blackfriars
"Blackfriars is one of the best real ale pubs in Glasgow and has won CAMRA's Glasgow Pub of the Year twice. It is a rarity in the Merchant City, among the myriad of style bars, restaurants and cafes - a traditional pub, serving a diverse clientele." Robin Jones (Chairman of Glasgow & West of Scotland CAMRA)

Welcome to the best kept secret in Glasgow.  Successfully combining a love of real ale, fine beer and quality spirits with great food upstairs and the city's hippest club downstairs makes Blackfriars unique in the pub firmament.

Blackfriars has one of the best selections of beers in Glasgow. With a selection boasting 5 cask ales (rotated every few days), 20 beers on tap and over 40 international bottled beers Click here to view our list of beers...

What is often called Gastro Pub Food nowadays used to be called good cooking.  We serve food till either 8pm or 10pm every night.

Carrying on an age old tradition of basement clubs supporting the most exciting and vibrant underground music scenes, our basement bar hosts club nights every weekend.  We have the best DJs and bands playing the hippest music from the 1950's and 60's through to present day cutting edge sounds.  The basement is also available for private hire functions and club nights, click here to get in touch or alternatively call 0141 552 5924.

Merchant City Festival

Now firmly established in the city's good time guides, the Merchant City Festival returns this month.  Blackfriars will host, as usual one of the main outdoor stages at the junction of Bell St and Albion St.  This focal point of the festival will be augmented by new ales, beers and food on offer in Blackies and the myriad street stalls and other entertainments over this long weekend.  See our live music page for further details.

New Food Menu

We have expanded our menu, which still includes your favourites as well as some exciting new dishes waiting to be sampled.  See the menu page for details, times and specials.

Find us on Facebook and Twitter

If you simply must know when your favourite ale is on, or want to plan your nights out round your favourite club night in the basement or band upstairs then you can receive daily updates on Facebook and Twitter for those of you that cannot live.  We are to be found at Blackfriars Glasgow on Facebook and @Blackfriars Pub on Twitter where we send out beer updates via the kind folk at Glasgow Beers.

Dance Classes

Never can we be accused of taking the health of the nation lightly.  The working days of the week (arguably the most likely to be painful) can be brightened by attending one of our dance classes downstairs.  Run by specialist instructors we host a Zoot Swing dance class on mondays, Tango on wednesdays and Swing & Jive on thursdays.  Contact us for further details.
